Turkey Preparation and Safety Basics

Return to Heath and Nutrition Agent Articles

Like most shameless foodies, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food, the tradition, poring through all the creative recipes featured in culinary magazines, the challenge of managing the massive production of the meal, and, of course, having an opportunity to gather with relatives which is an opportunity that our busy lives, unfortunately, resists.

Thanksgiving is a time to reconnect, remember our roots, relax into the familiar of who we were and rest with the ones that know and love us best as we are today. It’s also a time to review a few food safety basics for preparing the big meal.

Here is everything you need to know for buying, preparing, serving and storing turkey so that your family has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
