Cattlemen’s College

Location: 4-H Building on the Coffey County Fairgrounds in Burlington, Kans.

Registration: Please call 620-364-5313 or 785-828-4438 by December 5 to RSVP for the meal.

Coffey County Extension and Frontier District Extension will team up to bring producers another educational event called “The Cattlemen’s College.” The Cattlemen’s College will be held December 8th, 2016 at the 4-H Building on the Coffey County Fairgrounds in Burlington. The meeting will run from 3:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. A meal will be served at 5:45 p.m. Please call 620-364-5313 or 785-828-4438 by December 5th to RSVP for the meal.

The “Cattlemen’s College” will discuss low stress cattle handling topics and other industry hot topics. The low stress talks will include a

  • “Working Stock Dog Demonstration and Discussion” led by Beau Beyer, a local stockman and dog trainer and
  • “Cattle Working Facilities: Planning, Components, and Layouts” by Joe Harner, KSU Extension Agricultural Engineer.

Other topics and speakers include

  • “Mineral Supplement” given by Chris Reinhardt, KSU Extension Beef Specialist;
  • “Preparing for the New VFD Regulations” led by DVM Dan Thomson; and
  • “Understanding and Using Livestock Risk Protection Insurance” discussed by Scott Jones, Frontier Farm Credit.
