Garden Gallery Demonstration Garden

Located adjacent to the Sunset Drive Office Building, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, Olathe, KS

You're invited to a FREE bonus stop, part of the Public Garden Tour hosted by the Extension Master Gardeners. While access to home gardens requires a ticket, everyone can come to the Garden Gallery, showcaseing ideas for the home gardener that look gorgeous during all four seasons, including a butterfly garden, rain garden, and stunning trees.

Extension Expo

Meet Johnson County Extension agents and volunteers at booths full of resources and programs on a number of topics.

4-H council

Johnson County 4-H Council Officers:

These hard-working youth will be on-hand to discuss 4-H in Johnson County, including projects, service work in the community, and events like the Johnson County Fair.

Our 4-H'ers will sell bottled water and cute garden-theme stickers, with proceeds funding 4-H events and activities throughout the year.

table displayExtension Master Food Volunteers:

Stop by this table to talk with volunteers about nutrition, meal ideas, and eating from the garden. This group also offers cooking classes for adults, children, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Look for canning classes later this summer.

Extension Master Food Volunteers will sell a Weekly Meal Planner/Recipe Book.

These nature-loving volunteers will be on hand to talk about the Extension Master Naturalist program and projects, including work developing native gardens for pollinators around the county. Learn about upcoming events, like the Junior Extension Master Naturalist Wild Kids summer classes and Wonders of Discovery at Pollinator Prairie, plus free resources and ideas to help you explore the wild parts of Johnson County. 

Extension Master Naturalists will sell packets of native seed varieties, including Bradbury's Monarda, Columbine, Common Milkweed, Foxglove Beardtongue, Golden Alexanders, Pale Purple Coneflower, Prairie Blazing Star, Rattlesnake Master, Showy Beardtongue, Slender Mountain Mint, Wild Bergamot, and Yellow Coneflower.seeds

anthonyAnthony Reardon, Horticulture - Small Farms Agent:

Anthony will be at the Expo sharing information about growing vegetables and fruits, including the K-State Garden Hour, Dig Your Dinner webinar series, and other programs and events.

Anthony will also talk about soil testing (it's free if you live in Johnson County) and his work with volunteers growing food at the Sunset Community Garden.

 

joyJoy Miller, Family and Community Wellness Agent:

Joy is a resource for health and financial wellness, home air quality, and aging issues. Visit her booth to learn about upcoming Silver Clovers (our program for people ages 50 and older) on topics like Medicare and Social Security, as well as how to organize your financial documents.

Joy will sell do-it-yourself at-home Radon kits.
