Kitchen Restore Project Donations

Looking for a good cause to donate to? Consider the Kitchen Restore Project!
Every year around this time, people seek out opportunities to give back to the community. They search for ways to bring joy to individuals and families during the holiday season and to help those needing a little support. If you are one of those people looking for a cause that speaks to you, we hope you consider donating to our Kitchen Restore Project! Our Kitchen Restore Project was started in Fall 2022 and was temporarily put on hold. We are happy to announce that we are back and fully operational again!
The Johnson County Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) Program is currently seeking donations of new or gently used kitchen items or financial donations. The Kitchen Restore Project strives to improve the nutrition, food safety awareness, health, and quality of life of Johnson County residents through the provision of basic kitchen items to those with minimal or no resources for cooking. Once we receive your donation, we redistribute them back to the community. We work with community partners like food pantries, transitional shelters, family support centers, and other community partners to identify those who are in need of basic kitchen items to prepare nutritious meals for themselves and their family. Visit our Kitchen Restore Project website to see what items we accept.
We offer a prepared standard kit or individual items to supplement what someone may already have in their kitchen. The standard kit includes items for measuring, cutting, mixing, cooking, and eating. An estimated value for each kit is between $100 and $120. The project accepts tax-deductible financial donations of any amount to purchase items needed to supplement the kits (for example, items we have limited supply of like can openers) and support project operations. Please make checks made payable to Johnson County Extension Education Foundation with memo as Kitchen Restore.
Public donation drives are held every month. The drop-off location is at the Northeast Johnson County office building in Mission. The entrance is on the northwest side off Martway Street. Dates for our upcoming donation drives are:
December 3rd @ 10a-12p
December 15th @ 10a-12p
January 7th @ 10a-12p
February 4th @ 10a-12p
If you would like to learn more about our project, request a scheduled drop off (preferably for larger donations), or partner with us to reach community members who could use our service, please contact us at foodhelp@jocogov.org or 913-715-7000.
