Foods & Nutrition

Cooking is an essential skill for life. In our various cooking classes, students will learn how to prepare various recipes and develop skills that are transferable to preparing foods for the fair and beyond. Parents are welcome to stay, learn, and participate with their youth. Participants will get to eat or take home food prepared during each session. Food safety, nutrition, healthy eating, physical activity, and other lessons will be incorporated into sessions throughout the year.

Location: First Baptist Church (324 E Shawnee St., Gardner, KS) OR Johnson County Extension Office (Be sure to check location for each class in registration link.)

Date: September through May meet 2nd Thursday of every month in Gardner. Other classes offered throughout the year at the Extension office will be held during out-of-school days or during the summer.

Time: Monthly classes in Gardner take place from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Other classes at the Extension office will usually begin late morning.

Registration is required for planning the monthly activity and purchasing the correct quantity of food.
