2023 Tour of Private Gardens

Johnson County Extension Master Gardener Tour of Private Garden

Mark your calendars now for the Tour of Private Garden to be held June 17-18, 2023.  This special event is hosted by the Johnson Coblue chair with plantunty K-State Research and Extension Master Gardeners (EMGs).  It is your chance to peek inside and tour six of the best private gardens in the area. You won’t want to miss the beauty of our gardens where you will see everything from petite pocket gardens to ornamentals and edibles!

Tickets are only $40.00 and are well worth the fun you will have as you enjoy the beauty of our gardens along with learning from our Extension Master Gardeners!  You’ll come away dreaming of all the simple things you can to transport your own landscape from dull to delightful. Check back with us in March of 2023 to purchase your tickets for the tour.

Why We’re Different

Our garden tour is unique!  These gardens were hand selected to represent the best of Kansas City gardens as part of the 2023 International Master Gardener Conference which will be held at the Overland Park Convention Center. www.imgc2023.com

Johnson County EMGs will be hosting up to 1,000 EMGs from across the country, Canada and England during the conference which will include in addition to the Tour of Private Gardens, additional tours, workshops, presentations and a trade show.

By opening up these private gardens you get a rare chance to wander through your neighbor’s backyard and see and learn from local experts.

While on the tour you will receive information about each garden and educational fact sheets full of practical tips and ideas.

Ask the Experts

We welcome your questions as we want you to learn from your experience.  The garden owners and our university-trained EMG volunteers will be available throughout the tour to answer all your questions.

We are confident you will discover a gem that appeals to your individual taste.  Take time to stop, look, listen, photograph and enjoy!

Garden Tours Plans – 2023 and 2024

The 2023 Tour of Private Gardens tour is a special event being held in conjunction with the 2023 International Master Gardner Conference.  We were selected to host the International Master Gardener Conference, which is such a great honor for our organization we wanted you to be able to enjoy the tour and attend the once in a lifetime gardening opportunity of the conference. Plus, you can enjoy our garden tours two years in a row!  Please join us again, on May 17-18, 2024 for another round of great garden tours!  See you in 2023 and 2024!
