Board Leadership Skills Workshop

Date: Tuesdays, February 5, 12, 19 and 26

Time: 6  – 8 p.m.

Location: Johnson County Extension office, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, Olathe, 66061 Map.

Fee: The cost is $40 for all four sessions per person. One registration buys a seat for all four sessions, which can be rotated by participants.

Registration includes refreshments and reference handouts.

Description: The Board Leadership Series is a four course series offered once a week for four weeks. The course is designed to provide basic training for members of community based boards. The series will be hosted by local K-State Research and Extension professionals.

Registration includes refreshments and reference handouts.

    • Conductive Effective Meetings and Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members
    • Basics of parliamentary procedure
    • Strategies to make meetings more productive
       
  • Tuesday, February 12     
    • Fiscal Responsibilities, Fundraising and Legal and Ethical Issues
    • Explore board options for raising and managing money
    • Understanding such things as articles of incorporation, bylaws and policies

  • Tuesday, February 19      
    • Understanding Fellow Board Members and Conflict Resolution
    • Explore how personalities and generational differences affect the decision-making process
    • Learn how to manage conflict in a way that is productive, not destructive to the board

  • Tuesday, February 26    
    • Strategic Planning
    • Learn about establishing a common mission and vision for the board and how to plan priorities for the future
