Considerations for Hiring a Contractor

Return to Home and Family Agent Articles

A change of seasons often makes us think about beginning improvements and remodeling around the house. Maybe you are considering having some trees trimmed or new landscaping installed. Or hiring a professional to paint, add a deck or even remodel your kitchen.

Planning before the project is the most important part. Careful consideration given when hiring the contractor will pay off.

  • Get recommendations from friends you trust and on-line forums
  • Check the contractor’s reputation with the Better Business Bureau
  • Discuss your written plan for the work, and how changes will be handled
  • Never pay in full at the beginning of the job

There are many resources on line to provide additional guidance for choosing the best contractor for your project.  Some are listed below.
